Tobaski celebrations

This is the news following our most recent visit to The Gambia. Unfortunately our prepared plans had to be radically adjusted as our visit clashed with TOBASKI celebrations. This is a major event in The Gambia and all the schools were closed for a week and a number of government personnel were otherwise engaged.

1. Nursery classroom " Opened" at BAKANG/KARANTABA LOWER BASIC PRIMARY SCHOOL

2. 3 Beehives placed in cashew nut & mango trees by the school garden.

3. Number of sponsored children, at the school climbs to 28.

More information and photos reference the above items will be found on the EDUCATION page.

Work around the outside of the clinic has remained minimal, since our last report at the end of September, because of the rainy season continuing until mid November. However, interior work has progressed in readiness for the tiling of floors, the toilets and showers.

4. "Footings" completed for the staff accommodation and utility building. [Photo]

5. 4,900 building blocks made for the staff accommodation. [Photos]

6. Soak-aways under construction. [Photo]

7. Floor and wall tiles purchased in readiness for work to commence ASAP

8. Exterior and interior gloss and emulsion paint purchased.

9. Hand wash basins are to be fitted in the Maternity Ward, Womens & Children Ward and the Male Ward.

10. 2 sponsored nurses qualify as STATE ENROLLED NURSES. [Photo]

12. Chief Nursing Officer pledges 2 qualified MIDWIVES to be assigned to the KANKUDIBI HEALTH CLINIC when opened.
